Our Procedures

Frequently performed after significant weight loss, body-part lifting involves the removal of extra skin and fatty tissue through procedures designed to improve contours while hiding the necessary incisions in the best locations possible. These procedures are most commonly performed under general anesthesia and may require a short hospital stay. Lifts of this nature are necessary when the skin no longer has its original resiliency and smoothness and has lost significant elasticity and when the removal of fat alone (such as with liposuction) would result in very wavy and rippling skin contours. The trade-off with these types of operations is a longer surgical mark for a more pleasing overall shape and form. Body lifts are individualized to the specific problem area and recovery periods vary accordingly.

Breast Enlargement (Augmentation) This service has before and after pictures available

When a woman desires a fuller, more feminine shape to her breasts, whether it is after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or because of the way she developed naturally, breast augmentation procedures can restore an attractive and fit figure. Silicone implants are placed partly under the chest muscle at the level of the breast to help achieve a natural, though fuller contour. General anesthesia or deep sedation can be utilized for this outpatient procedure. Various improved methods of post-surgical discomfort control are utilized to allow for a smooth recovery and quicker return to normal activity.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy) This service has before and after pictures available

Sometimes after pregnancy, nursing, weight loss, or with advancing age, the breasts lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag. It may become necessary to rearrange and tighten the skin of the breast in order to give it proper shape. This can be accomplished with or without breast implants depending on the amount of fullness a woman is trying to achieve. This procedure can be utilized to restore a lovely feminine breast form with minimal downtime. The nipple frequently needs to be shifted upward and the extra skin at the lower portion of the breast removed or rearranged.

Liposuction This service has before and after pictures available

Various techniques of fat removal can be utilized to improve the shape of the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttock area, chin and neck line, and even the breasts, upper arms, calves, and knees, when fat in these areas is resistant to diet and exercise. These techniques involve the careful aspiration of fat through slim, hollow tubing specifically designed to minimize trauma to the surrounding tissue and skin. Once the internal contours are improved, compression garments are used to help the skin contract uniformly and smoothly. These outpatient procedures require minimal lost time from activities and social events.

Men whose chest shape has taken on a more feminine appearance (gynecomastia) by the presence of abnormal amounts of fat or breast tissue can benefit from liposuction and/or excision of this tissue. Outpatient procedures under local anesthesia with sedation can be used and small incisions hidden around the nipple or in nearby creases. The final result of a more masculine form to the upper torso is achieved with the short term post-surgical use of a compression garment that helps shape the contour.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) This service has before and after pictures available

Excessive skin and fatty tissue can be removed from the abdomen and stomach muscles tightened to help restore an aesthetically pleasing midsection. Incisions necessary to remove unwanted tissue are placed in low, more easily concealed areas and the navel can be made to look more youthful. These procedures are most commonly done under general anesthesia and can accomplish what years of exercise and weight control methods have not been able to achieve. Modified abdominoplasty procedures are an option for those individuals whose laxity is primarily below the navel.

The forehead area can be tightened and raised to help restore the proper position of the eyebrows or muscle adjustments can be made to help decrease the wrinkling of the forehead and minimize frown lines. This can be achieved either through endoscopic techniques that place the small incisions behind the hairline, or if hairline position needs to be adjusted, the surgical approach can be made at the hairline. This type of procedure can sometimes be performed at the same time as other facial rejuvenation procedures to optimize the results.

Frequently the eye area ages more rapidly than other facial skin because of years of squinting, sun exposure, and facial animation. The rejuvenation of the skin and soft tissue around the eyes can give a more rested, refreshed and youthful appearance. Outpatient eyelid surgery can remove or reposition excess fat and drooping skin, minimize bags, and tighten skin and is often done under local anesthesia with sedation. Sometimes modifying the angle of the eyelid tilt or simple techniques of eyelid skin rejuvenation can restore the facial harmony that makeup is unable to.

Some imperfections in the skin can be improved with techniques that range from minor peels and microdermabrasion to more involved excision and rearrangement. Since most scars take at least a year to mature, fade, and reach their best condition, surgical scar revision is more commonly done after the skin has been given ample opportunity and time to heal properly on its own. At times, minor interventions may be performed earlier to optimize the healing process. Scar revision techniques may be advised to help make scars appear less obvious or to improve their texture and are frequently done under local anesthesia alone.

A mid-face lift is an operation that involves elevating the cheeks to eliminate laxity and sagging. The procedure helps restore harmony and youthfulness to the mid facial region. As individuals age, there are changes in the skin just as there are changes in all other parts of the body. Fatty tissue tends to decrease in volume and in density causing the skin to fit more loosely. There are also changes in the bones of the face which combined with changes in muscular action and gravity lead to more prominent skin folds and wrinkles. These changes can lead to descent of the cheeks and flattening of the face in this region. Mid-face lift surgery is designed to correct these facial conditions. Basically the operation involves lifting and repositioning drooping tissues.

Bluewater Plastic Surgery provides a variety of non-surgical solutions that achieve dramatic improvements in many skin problems. With little or no recovery periods, these treatments will not disrupt your lifestyle, nor do they make you wait for results. All the treatments listed below are non-surgical methods used to rejuvenate the skin. Although they are not permanent, these treatments can considerably reduce the appearance of lines, creases, and wrinkles.

  • Botox: This cosmetic treatment involves injecting Botox into areas such as worry lines, frown lines, laugh lines, and crow's feet to block impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles that contribute to these expression lines. Botox relaxes the muscles so they do not contract which helps to soften these lines. Botox injections are a temporary solution and results may last from three to six months.
  • Juvederm: This filler is based on a natural substance found in the body, hyaluronic acid, which has been stabilized for long duration, usually lasting 6-12 months. Their use ranges from treating fine lines to reshaping facial contours and lip augmentation.
  • Radiesse: Dermal filler for facial folds and wrinkles, Radiesse is made of calcium-based microspheres that not only fill and volumize, but work with your body to stimulate new collagen production. Results can last 12 months or more.
